kyanve_te_shirhan: (Book Falls. Everyone Dies.)
Which, in my case, means some assorted notes, a lot of grumbling at things that didn't click about the world/background until recently, and finishing the book from last year. (Oh, I beat 50K - I just didn't finish that story arc.)

Because at this point, I don't have any other ideas presenting themselves besides Book 2. >w> In which I have a decent idea what's going on, it'd just help to make ABSOLUTELY sure of where everyone ends up in the aftermath of Book 1.

Whiiich means this year will be another fun month of boiling my head in demons (some of whom are the good guys), angels (some of whom are the bad guys), crazy half-dead gods, fae, immortals, and post-apocalyptic world-rebooted chaos. I'm not sure if the second one will follow One Poor Robotics Engineer In The Wrong Time And Version Of Earth as much as the first one did, even though I know the poor sap's going to be coming a BIT more into his own than you know ...

Being a great disoriented PoV character for an audience with about as much clue what's going on as he does.

(I still plan on sticking to him fitting the "NaNo dare" sort of scenario - despite being dropped into a basically fantasy setting, he is NOT going to suddenly pick up any fighting skill he doesn't have logical background for - esp. when it's been established that he's incompetent with weapons, he is STILL as magically inclined as a lead brick, and he is NOT the one that should be anywhere near facing down the monsters and villains, even if he's perfectly happy to cuss them out in dark alleyways. Being a very bright engineer is PLENTY for him to make himself useful. There's other characters who can handle the Epic Badassery. An engineer with modern knowledge in a setting that's been blasted back to feudal era can cause plenty of Epic without being the one with the shiny sword. :3 )

And having Docs 2 Go on the iTouch means I can TYPE AN ACTUAL DOCUMENT FILE while I'm away from the apartment, without having to lug a laptop around, instead of scribbling in a notebook and then retyping it every night when I get chances to write at work. :3 :3 :3

VICTORY, BITCHES

*The sad part is, I'm only ...maybe halfway, or a third of the way, through "plot arc of that as book". *cough*. >_>; Well, at least I've gotten back in habit of working on writing!
kyanve_te_shirhan: (Chibi-SH Quote: No Amount of Therapy...)
1) For those who're on this but not on my personal journal:
Moving tiem is nao!
I've still been writing, it's just been entirely handwritten at work during breaks/slow times, and last week I really didn't get any time whatsoever to start typing what I'd written until Thursday night; I still have a few handwritten pages to transcribe, so technically my wordcount timing's v. off.
(People that I've been e-mailing copies to will be getting a new one some time today >.>; with the handwritten stuff added. If you aren't on that list and want to be, poke me and/or IM/PM/whatever me with an e-mail address, and I'll add you to the CC list.)

2) This is going to be such an ongoing project - it occurred to me recently that I'm maybe a third of the way into planned-plot-arc (for what would be 'self-contained novel', the scary part is I already know how it'd continue after this for a next-book), and I'm almost to 40K. o.o;
The even sadder part is that I'm looking back at the early parts and realizing that I've actually OMITTED more description/thought process/etc. that's usually 'good word count pad' than what I'd feel OK with in "version I'd consider acceptable for outside audience", if not always by much.

3) Comedy is realizing that besides one character who's off-camera and never really mentioned, and one who basically is "My god, a NaNo dare snuck into an important plot point" and won't be fully explained "this arc", that I have two demons on the "protagonist/good" side, and all of the named/visible angels/divine beings are on the OTHER SIDE trying to burn the world. Er. Well. Okay, technically there's a third who's in the plot that's NOT trying to burn the world, and is on protagonist side, he just spends most of the plot HIDING! :|
...And a fourth who doesn't show up until the end and is ... well .. uhm ... Gabe is Gabe and may not be entirely pointed out as "that's actually a goddess".

If anyone on this flist wants to read what I'm working on, let me know here and I'll periodically send you an updated copy of the file. :B

PS: I'm being outsmarted by the word count widgets. >.>; hlp plz?

NaNo!

I am here. If you are on NaNo, feel free to add me <.<

The title was the result of putting things on shuffle and grabbing an idea!

This is what it's from.

I'm ending up with a scary amount of notes and prepwork done in slow times at work, which SHOULD help with my word-count too when NaNo starts. ^___^
